First let me say to my Daddy...mother and I both tried to call you last night and this morning but we can't seem to get it to work. Just know that we love you and we will keep trying to figure out the phone thing so mother can call you when we get Clara. Melisa, will you check in with Daddy to be sure that he can still read the blog so we'll know he read this? Thank you sis!
So I'm cracking up at all of the comments. I wanted to let you all know that I finally figured out why my friend Tatum was showing up as "didi" when she posted comments. Problem solved, thank you for calling blogger helpdesk in Hong Kong :) And Chris, I also edited the settings on this blog so that it will accept anonymous comments.
Half of our crew slept until 6:00 this morning! Unfortunately, I was not part of that half. Carter woke up at 2:45 this morning and ask if it was time to get up yet. He did lay in the bed for another hour or so, but then by 4:00 I was letting him eat some peanut butter crackers because he was starving. Poor guy, and poor me. I'm actually feeling very well though, right now at least!
I would love to show you guys some pictures of our hotel but I can't get pictures on the blog because we are using the computers in the lounge. Don't panic though Aimee, Aaron said we could pay for internet access in the room once we have You You, which would mean we can add pictures!
We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast this morning. There must have been 200 items on the bar? It was amazing. We've been checking out the rest of the hotel and the boys keep asking when they can go swimming (there is an Olympic size indoor pool). I think we'll do that after the tour, before we crash for the evening.
I might try to post again later...

Oh my, are you surprised that I am the first to comment?? OK, I have only checked your blog 3 times this afternoon. I had to start back tutoring today so it got me out of the house. Please tell Aaron, "thank you very much" for the internet access next week. I am just dying to see pictures. Now, will it be MOnday here in the USA??? I get so confused with all these time zones.
ReplyDeleteIts so weird you not being here...I have nobody to call and obsess with...so I'll just do my obsessing on your comments..is that OK??
OK, so here it goes..."Erica! I am so ready to leave. I need to go get my little girl right now. When is my TA coming? OH, I just had a fabulous idea...can you ask LIly when my TA is coming??..OH, that will make the happiest girl in the world. And please tell her what I told you the morning in the airport...I really need to get to her, fast. !!!!"
Miss you terribly. Please hurry home with that little doll baby girl!!!

ReplyDeleteHi Guys! I hope you are having fun. You are so lucky to get to go swimming in the middle of the winter. Don't forget to take a picture of a snake on a stick! If it is legal, you can even bring one back for me.
Hi Carter and Jackson! How was that long plane ride?
I love all! Tyler
Just wanted to leave a comment to encourage more posting! Tell my tight wad brother that I want pictures now and that in the scope of all money being spent, Internet access is rather insignificant.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing so good with ypur blogging, but can you tell the husband that I need for him to go ahead and pay for the internet..I need some pictures. I want to see that big smile on your face again. I cant wait to hear all the details on your first day of touring. Dont leave anything out.
ReplyDeleteWell I need to go check on a "few girls". I miss you and look foward to the next update.
Love
Connie
Glad you're having fun! I hope you get adjusted quickly!

I just talked to Daddy. And guess what?? He read your blog this morning and checked it about an hour ago. YEAH Daddy!!! I told him about this post and he is going to check it now. He said to tell you that he loves you all and is praying for you.
ReplyDeleteI am so exited that you have been able to give us these wonderful updates. I hope you'll be able to post 4 or 5 times every day. :) I'm a little obsessed over the blog and have checked it numerous times today. I thought...Well, it is 6 am there, maybe she has posted something else. I miss you all already and can't quit thinking about you. Please give mommy and the boys a big hug for me. I love you sissy!! Keep posting even if they have to be short and sweet. And, Aaron listen to your sister...internet can't cost that much. Love you all!!
Thanks for all of this-- the details, the little comments from the kids, the pictures, the adjustment to the time. I'm going to let David read these posts (Davy) so he can get a sense of being in a foriegn country. You're doing a great job keeping us up to speed. Your excitement is contagious! Is the waiting easier now that you are "next door" or all the more painful, to be so close? I wish you plenty of cheerful distractions (like Disney & swimming pools) until the Ultimate Adoption!

(sorry to be stickler about the anonymous comments... i hate spam and try to keep my email address unposted. thanks for fixing it for me! now i am a little embarrassed.)
I'm LAUGHING hysterically at the thought of there even being an issue paying for internet while in China! Heck, I will wire you the money if I have to. :-) Coming out of my skin waiting for Monday(Sunday for us, right?)
ReplyDeleteKristi
Yay! I've checked this blog at least 5 times hoping for an update! I can't wait to hear more! I love all the info! Love y'all! Still praying!
ReplyDeleteElise
Thanks for the update Erica! I'm checking your blog all the time to see what you all are up to! Almost feels like I am there too... well OK, not almost, but I can dream, right?
ReplyDeleteOh, and it was sooo sweet that the first thing in your post was to check on your daddy. :)
Keep us updated!
Praying for you,
~Laura
We're missing you in all the goings on here, but gotta say I'd rather be there seeing your excitement this week. Love to the whole bunch of you.
ReplyDeleteI am here honey! I think I was the first to "see" Emily's post because I was checking every 1 second this morning! I just don't have much time to blog at work. Nick and I had a date tonight...Iowa Hawkeye basketball game...and let me tell you that my mind certainly was not on basketball...OR HIM! Bless his heart! I love you! I am glad that you are having so much fun already!!
ReplyDeleteWe're so glad that you made it safely!! We've been praying like crazy.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, as Dave and the kids were driving past your house, Dave said that you guys were on the plane going to China. Joshua said, "It's not fair that Carter and Jackson get to ride on a plane and I don't." Then, he said, "Can we adopt so we can fly on a plane to China too?" :-) He also said that he wanted to fly to Hawaii because he wanted a pineapple. Dave told him to just go to Kroger. LOL!!!
Needless to say, we're all thinking of you and praying for you, wishing we could be right there with you (or in Hawaii).
Love you!
Mary and fam
I love reading everything! I also love that you are almost in the same time zone as us (only one hour different), so our days are the same. We were out all day today and I couldn't wait to get home and check on you. We are praying and checking in as often as we can. Please say hello and give hugs to everyone for us... Aaron, Carter, Jackson, your sweet mother, David and Dixie. I bet you guys are quite the traveling group and having great fun. I just chuckle thinking about you all together on this BIG adventure. I wish we could join in the fun! We absolutely can't wait to see pics of you with little You You.
ReplyDeleteLove to you all,
Jennifer and family
-Hey, we noticed in your family departure picture that you changed the locks on your doors. Are you worried that we might come back? :-)
just checking in and then hitting the bed! We are finally in Beijing after leaving home 45 hours before. Caleb and Kim are already asleep. We were going to try to go eat then go to bed, but at 6:30 PM here I think we will all sleep through the night. Glad your all safe and sound. We sat by some other soon to be adoptive parents on the plane.
ReplyDeleteSee you all in GZ.
Tommy
Oh, I miss HK!
ReplyDeleteYes...you're doing good...but it is SO worth it to pay for the internet in the room so you can post pix...it's also therapeutic to sit in the room on the computer...at least it was for me!!! Have fun....and definitely get acclimated to the time change so when you get "you you" You'll be feeling good!! :) Have fun!! We're so excited for you guys!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Buffi
We are glad everything is going well with all of you (except sleep and the jet lag). Gail did talk with your dad after a few attempts last night to check on him. He was doing fine, but I didn't know at that time to ask him whether he was able to read your blog. Love you all.
ReplyDeleteGail just informed me that she did ask your dad whether he read the blog and he said he had read it.
ReplyDeleteI am happy to hear from you this morning. Aaron, if you do not get internet access in your room, like yesterday, your name will be MUD with all of your people so you better get on it. You don't want unhappy people do you??? As proof from all the comments you are being prayed for and on all of our minds. If there is any way we all could be as happy as you, we are. Grand says to tell the boys "Hi". We love you all seven.
ReplyDeleteTatum
Erica? Hello out there in Hong Kong?? What are you doing?? Isnt it night time?? I am dying for an update.
ReplyDeleteAaron, seriously, get the internet access. OK?
Praying for you .....
Ok.....I have slept my eight hours and ready for an update. I bet the next update we will have pictures (haha).
ReplyDeleteHugs to all
Connie
so what is the time difference?? 11 hours?
ReplyDeletewish I could be there but I guess I'll settle for FREQUENT updates. thanks for taking the time to sit down and write and include us on the adventure.
Love ya,
Michelle
I'm ready for my update too! :)
ReplyDeletePraying for you..
~Laura
Ok so I'm not a phone person or an e person either but I just wanted to let you know that we are also very, very excited for you all and love reading the blog. Matt checks it ever so often and of course I'm on here all the time sometimes just to see what time it is there and see if you've posted. Tell Didi I like hearing from her too. It gives it a little twist. We are praying that all goes well and for your baby girl. We love you guys and are thinking of you often
ReplyDeleteLove ya
Rochelle
Hey, guys! I'm so glad to hear your updates. We are praying for you like everybody else here! Thanks for keeping us updated so that we can feel like we are there with you! Aaron, it sounds like you are going to be in big trouble about this internet thing. I bet everyone would be willing to chip in and pay you back when you get home with Clara. Love to all of you!
ReplyDeleteJoie
I am so jealous- I want to be there. Seth just came into the room and stopped dead still when he saw Clara's picture? "Who is that?" he wanted to know. I explained that it was Mrs. Hammond's new granddaughter, Clara, and and that you are in China (well almost) right now to get her. He thought that was great. We prayed for all of you in our family devotions this morning. Following along with great excitement!! We need pictures- tell Aaron it is cruel and unusual punishment to make you (and all of us) wait.
ReplyDeleteHugs from the Willis family-
Katie
Okay gang...how was the touring and the pool, huh? I hope you are all sleeping right now REALLY HARD AND SOUND!
ReplyDeleteErica you have so many pillars of faith holding you up here on the home-front. I'm so blessed just to read all your support in your comments; I can't imagine how blessed YOU must feel! We all love you, Hammond family! Quan really wants to see you meet his favorite person in the whole wide world...Mickey Mouse! Of course I am anxiously awaiting your first meeting with your new DAUGHTER!
I feel so privileged to be able to be on this end of the rope, praying and anxiously awaiting each update...you held us up so sweetly on both our trips. It blesses me richly to be able to do the same for you, friend!
